The Thau territory stands out for its remarkable natural heritage and rich biodiversity. The project focuses on the "tocs" area, located on the barrier beach (lido) of the Thau lagoon. Situated in the southern part of the lagoon, this zone features shallow waters protected by an underwater dune ridge that breaks the surface. This aquatic environment supports a wide diversity of animal and plant species: it serves as a nursery for fish and seahorses, and is home to seagrass beds that play an essential role by providing vital habitats for numerous marine species.
