Water Territories
For years, this work has followed the contours of a sea. Island after island, shore after shore, it asks what holds these scattered lands together: water, a constant and shifting presence, a mirror held up to the ways of men. It belongs to a tradition of photography that seeks not to prove, but to look. To remain, for as long as it takes, where things reveal themselves of their own accord. A photography that moves at the pace of the land, and knows that nothing gives itself up except through returning. From these fragments, gathered over time, a sensitive cartography slowly takes shape: that of an inner sea, of its ancient balances, and of what, today, falters in silence.
