Triad of Islands is a documentary photography project. I travel across three islands, Sicily, Sardinia and Corsica, which I explore through landscape, architecture and the diversity of their cultures. The photographic approaches are many, matching the diversity of the islands themselves. Each one opens a road, and the whole island comes into view.
Here, in the western Mediterranean, light does its work of resonance from one island to the next. The same winds sweep over them, the same clouds drift across them, carrying the same rains. Three islands, one shared breath.
Water holds an essential place here: it is present in the land and shapes human history. But it is not the only subject. It is the method. It leads me everywhere, it is the door. From a spring to a village, from people to animals, from mountain to sea, all of this traces my paths. These encounters guide me and carry me all the way to the image.
Woven from these crossings, this photographic cartography examines the links that bind water, landscapes, architecture and the societies that depend on them: so many elements of an inquiry where ecological issues, social realities and the memory of the land intersect.
